We Asked 500+ Home Sauna Owners If They Actually Use Their Sauna. Here’s What They Said.

Buying a home sauna sounds great.

But there’s an obvious question before spending thousands of dollars on one:

Will I actually use it?

Because we’ve all bought things with good intentions.

The treadmill that becomes a clothes rack. The gym membership you stop using. The recovery gadget that seemed life-changing for the first two weeks.

So we wanted to find out whether home saunas end up the same way.

We surveyed more than 500 Nook Sauna owners about how they actually use their sauna, not just immediately after buying it, but as part of everyday life.

The results surprised even us.

97% still use their sauna at least once a week

This was probably the number we were most interested in.

Because buying a sauna is one thing. Actually building it into your life is another.

Of the owners we surveyed, 97% said they use their sauna at least weekly.

And when you think about it, there’s a pretty simple reason why.

It's at home.

There's no drive to the gym or wellness centre. No booking. No packing a bag. No waiting for someone else to finish.

You can finish work, walk outside and be in your sauna minutes later.

For a lot of owners, that seems to be what turns sauna from something they occasionally do into part of their routine.

96% said it helps them de-stress

This might be our favourite result.

96% of owners surveyed told us their sauna helps them de-stress.

There’s something very simple about shutting the door for 20 or 30 minutes.

No emails. No kids asking you for something. No meeting you need to get to.

Just warmth and a bit of time to yourself.

For some people, their sauna is about recovery after training.

For others, it's what they do before bed.

And for plenty of our customers, it's simply the only 20 minutes of the day when nobody bothers them.

77% said they sleep better

Sleep is one of the biggest reasons people tell us they're interested in sauna.

So we asked owners about that too.

77% told us they feel they sleep better since getting their sauna.

Of course, a sauna isn't a treatment for sleep problems, and everybody's experience is different.

But an evening sauna has become part of the wind-down routine for a lot of Nook owners.

Sauna. Shower. Bed.

Sometimes simple routines are the ones that stick.

97% said their sauna has had a positive impact on their lifestyle

This was the big one.

97% of the people we surveyed said owning their sauna has had a positive impact on their lifestyle.

Not that it transformed their health overnight.

Not that it fixed every problem.

Simply that they're glad it's part of their life.

And we think that's an important distinction.

There are plenty of extraordinary claims about infrared saunas online. We don't think you need them.

For most people, the real benefit is much simpler:

You have somewhere at home that makes it incredibly easy to slow down, get warm, switch off and make a little time for yourself.

And because it's right there, you actually use it.

So, do people regret buying a home sauna?

A home sauna isn't cheap, and if you don't think you'll use one regularly, we wouldn't tell you to buy one.

But that's exactly why we ran this survey.

We wanted to know whether the thousands of Australians who had bought a Nook were actually using them once the novelty wore off.

The answer was pretty convincing.

97% use theirs weekly.
96% say it helps them de-stress.
77% say they sleep better.
97% say it's had a positive impact on their lifestyle.
96% would recommend one.

Maybe the better question isn't:

"Would I like having a sauna at home?"

It's:

"If I had one sitting a few metres away, how often would I actually use it?"

According to more than 500 Nook owners, probably more often than you think.
